ABUJA/Nigeria: Senator Ned Nwoko, representing Delta North Senatorial District in the National Assembly, has expressed deep shock and grief over the passing of former Deputy Governor of Delta State, Chief Benjamin Elue.

In a condolence message issued in Abuja, Senator Nwoko described the death of the elder statesman at the age of 85 as both a personal and collective loss.

He recalled a longstanding relationship with the late leader that spanned decades of social, cultural, and political engagement, noting that their bond was built on mutual respect and shared values.

The Senator paid glowing tribute to Chief Elue, whom he described as a father figure, humble counsellor, and trusted confidant known for his gentle disposition and principled character.

According to Nwoko, the late former Deputy Governor distinguished himself in public office through rare integrity, honesty, and accountability, qualities that set him apart as one of the finest leaders to have served Delta State.

He noted that Chief Elue’s modest lifestyle, humility, and disciplined approach to governance stood in sharp contrast to the excesses often associated with Nigeria’s political environment.

“It is with immense grief that I received the sad news of the passing of Chief Benjamin Elue, former Deputy Governor of our dear state,” Nwoko said.

“He will be remembered as an exemplary patriot and accomplished statesman whose contributions to the growth and development of Delta State were profound. His legacy of disciplined and selfless service will endure.

“He was a rare breed of leader — modest, principled, and humane. His life embodied service above self and dignity in public conduct.

“Chief Elue’s passing marks the end of an era, but his legacy of integrity, decency, and unwavering commitment to public service will remain indelible in the political history of Delta State.

“On behalf of my associates and the entire people of Delta North, I extend heartfelt condolences to the Elue family and pray for the peaceful repose of his soul and the strength to bear this loss,” he added.
