
ASABA/Nigeria: Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, has paid glowing tribute to renowned sports administrator, Chief Solomon Ogba, as he marks his 66th birthday, describing his decades of service as pivotal to the evolution of athletics in Nigeria.
Ogba, who clocks 66 on May 1, is widely regarded as one of the country’s most influential figures in sports governance, having previously led the Athletics Federation of Nigeria and currently serving as Vice-President of the Nigeria Olympic Committee.
In a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Sir Festus Ahon, the governor acknowledged Ogba’s enduring footprint in sports administration, noting that his stewardship helped reposition Nigerian athletics for stronger global competitiveness.
He observed that Ogba’s leadership era was defined by structure, discipline and renewed international visibility for Nigerian athletes, adding that his continued involvement in sports governance remains a stabilising force in the sector.
Governor Oborevwori further commended the Delta-born administrator for his sustained commitment to youth development, stressing that his role in nurturing talents has contributed significantly to Nigeria’s presence on the global sporting stage.
He noted that Ogba’s contributions across multiple sporting institutions underscore his dedication to using sports as a vehicle for national unity and youth engagement.
The governor expressed confidence that Ogba’s experience and institutional knowledge would continue to inspire emerging administrators and athletes across the country.
He wished the sports icon good health and longevity, urging him to remain steadfast in his contributions to the advancement of sports development in Nigeria.
