Guwor Secures APC Ticket as Warri South-West Affirms Speaker Unopposed

APC leaders and stakeholders raise the hands of Rt. Hon. Emomotimi Dennis Guwor after his affirmation as the party’s candidate for Warri South-West Constituency during the APC Delta State House of Assembly primaries held in Ogbe-Ijoh ahead of the 2027 general elections.

OGBE-IJOH/Nigeria: Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Emomotimi Dennis Guwor, has emerged as the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for Warri South-West Constituency ahead of the 2027 general elections following an affirmation exercise conducted across the local government area.

The affirmation exercise, held during the APC Delta State House of Assembly primaries on Wednesday, saw delegates from the 10 wards in Warri South-West vote in their various localities to endorse Guwor, who was the sole aspirant for the seat.

The exercise was in line with APC guidelines and Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) regulations requiring affirmation for unopposed candidates to validate their emergence through an established party process.

The primary was supervised by the Returning Officer for Warri South-West Local Government Area, Mr. Ejiro Jamani, alongside party officials at the ward level.

Guwor cast his vote at Gbaramatu Ward 4 before joining other APC leaders and stakeholders at the collation centre in Ogbe-Ijoh where results from the 10 wards were collated and announced.

Among party leaders present at the collation centre were the member representing Warri Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Thomas Ereyitomi, Commissioner Sam Oligida, Hon. Daniel Mayuku and Bosin Ebikeme.

Reacting after the announcement of the results, Guwor described the affirmation as a reflection of the unity and collective will of the people of Warri South-West.

“This affirmation is not about one man, but about the will of our people and the unity of our party. I am humbled by the trust reposed in me by the party in Warri South-West. It is a call for more service with greater dedication, humility and accountability,” he said.

He added: “Our focus remains on delivering dividends of democracy to every community in this constituency.”

The Speaker, who also serves as Chairman of the Conference of Speakers of State Legislatures of Nigeria, said the outcome further demonstrated the growing strength and cohesion of the APC in Delta State.

“What we are witnessing today is the consolidation of a political family that puts people first. The APC in Warri South-West is united and we are ready to secure a resounding victory for the party in 2027. This is about continuity, stability and development for our people,” Guwor stated.

Party stakeholders described the exercise as peaceful, orderly and transparent, commending the leadership of the party for mobilising members toward ensuring total victory for APC candidates in the 2027 elections.

Rt. Hon. Thomas Ereyitomi said the seamless conduct of the exercise underscored the party’s commitment to internal democracy, while Hon. Daniel Mayuku, Bosin Ebikeme and Commissioner Sam Oligida noted that the affirmation had set the stage for the party’s campaign ahead of the next general election.

“Warri South-West is and remains one big family in the overall interest of the people,” the leaders stated.
