Oborevwori’s Sole APC Ticket Is Reward for Performance, Not Politics — Speaker Guwor

GBARAMATU/Nigeria: Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Emomotimi Dennis Guwor, has declared that the emergence of Delta State Governor, Sheriff Oborevwori, as the sole governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the 2027 election was earned through performance and not political calculations, describing the development as a direct endorsement of the governor’s achievements in office.

Guwor made the remark after casting his vote during the APC governorship primary in Gbaramatu Ward 4, stating that Governor Oborevwori’s unopposed emergence reflected the confidence and trust party members have in his administration following three years of what he described as impactful and people-driven governance.

In a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Nkem Nwaeke, the Speaker said the APC primary in Delta State was more than a routine political exercise, insisting that it represented a statewide validation of the governor’s developmental strides and inclusive leadership style.

According to him, the overwhelming support recorded at the primary was evidence that the governor’s projects and governance approach had resonated across communities and political blocs in the state.

“The overwhelming support for His Excellency, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, at the primaries reflected the confidence of party faithful in the administration’s track record. In the last three years, the administration has demonstrated what it means to govern with focus and sincerity. The results speak for themselves. That is why the APC has spoken with one voice,” Guwor stated.

The Speaker, who also doubles as Chairman of the Conference of Speakers of State Legislatures of Nigeria, noted that Governor Oborevwori’s movement into the APC had further strengthened political cohesion in Delta State, creating what he described as a united platform for governance and accelerated project delivery.

Guwor also reflected on his own affirmation in Warri South-West Constituency, describing it as a clear signal of the people’s desire for continuity, accountable leadership and sustained development.

“My affirmation was also about the will of our people and the unity of our party in Warri South-West. Party faithful spoke clearly, and it is a call for greater service with humility and accountability. What is happening across Delta shows that the people want continuity, stability and development,” he said.

He urged APC members across the state to sustain the unity displayed during the primaries and deepen grassroots engagement ahead of the 2027 elections, stressing that Governor Oborevwori had already laid a solid foundation that must be consolidated for the continued progress of Delta State.
