ASABA/Nigeria: Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, has expressed gratitude to God and those who supported his family during the wedding celebrations of his son, Innocent, and Tobore Arigbodi.
Speaking on Sunday after a thanksgiving service at Living Faith Church, Ibusa Road, Asaba, the governor thanked family members, guests, political associates, traditional rulers and other well-wishers for identifying with the families throughout the series of ceremonies.
Oborevwori said the successful completion of the traditional marriage, church wedding, reception and thanksgiving service was an expression of what he described as God’s faithfulness and grace.
He also appreciated the favourable weather and safe journeys experienced by guests who travelled from different parts of Nigeria and beyond to attend the celebrations.
“From the traditional marriage to the church wedding and now this thanksgiving service, God has been with us every step on the way,” the governor said.
Oborevwori described the turnout at the various ceremonies as remarkable, noting that some people attended without formal invitations because they wanted to share in the family’s joy.
He expressed appreciation to everyone who contributed in one way or another to the success of the celebrations and prayed for the newly married couple to enjoy a peaceful, prosperous and fruitful union.
The father of the bride, Chief Brodericks Arigbodi, also expressed gratitude to God for the successful completion of the ceremonies, describing the marriage as the beginning of a new chapter in the lives of the couple.
Arigbodi said the family appreciated the relatives, friends and well-wishers who travelled from different parts of Nigeria and beyond to celebrate with them.
The traditional marriage was held in Isiokolo on August 26.
He urged the couple to make God the foundation of their marriage and remain guided by Christian values as they build their home.
Arigbodi prayed that God would strengthen the couple’s love, preserve their union and enable them to achieve their aspirations together.
Earlier in his sermon, Pastor Samuel Johns urged Christians to pay greater attention to their health, stressing that while believers could trust God for healing, they should also avoid practices capable of harming their bodies.
Johns spoke about the role of faith in seeking healing and restoration, while attributing some afflictions to what he described as spiritual attacks and generational battles.
He also referred to Holy Communion, anointing oil and prophetic mantles as among the provisions used in the church’s ministry of healing, stressing that their significance was dependent on faith rather than the physical objects themselves.
The pastor subsequently prayed for worshippers experiencing difficulties and setbacks, as well as for peace, progress and prosperity in Nigeria.
The thanksgiving service brought to a close the series of ceremonies marking the marriage of Innocent Oborevwori and Tobore Arigbodi.
