KWALE/Nigeria: The leadership of the Ndokwa Neku Union (NNU) has announced a resolution of the differences that had recently created tension within its National Executive Council, with the union now calling for a renewed focus on the collective interests of Ndokwa Nation.
The resolution followed intervention by the NNU Elders Council and other stakeholders during a meeting held on Sunday, September 27, according to a statement issued by the union on Monday.
The statement, signed by the President General, Comrade Chief Amechi Asugwuni, and Secretary General, Den. Jimoh Egwali, Esq., said the National Executive Council had agreed to work together and maintain the existing leadership arrangement of the union.
The development brings to an end, at least formally, the recent disagreements within the executive council, as the leadership sought to reassure members and the wider Ndokwa community of its commitment to the unity of the organisation.
The NNU leadership expressed appreciation to members of Ndokwa Nation for their patience and understanding while efforts were being made to resolve the issues.
It also appealed to members of the public to disregard publications and comments circulating on social media concerning the disagreement, saying such materials should not be allowed to undermine the reconciliation process.
According to the statement, the leadership is now focused on returning the union’s attention to its responsibilities and working collectively in the interest of Ndokwa Nation.
The union further called on its members and other stakeholders to support the renewed spirit of cooperation within the organisation, stressing that unity remained essential to the pursuit of common interests.
The leadership declared: “We remain one people, one family and one united NNU. Together, we are stronger.”
The latest development follows the intervention of the elders and other stakeholders, whose involvement provided an avenue for the executive council to address the differences and reach an understanding on moving forward.
The NNU leadership said it would remain committed to working together and maintaining the unity of the organisation as it continues to pursue matters affecting the interests and development of Ndokwa Nation.
