PORT HARCOURT/Nigeria: Chief Eze Chukwuemeka Eze, a chieftain of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), has thrown his weight behind former Rivers State Governor, Rt. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi’s criticism of President Bola Tinubu and the All Progressives Congress (APC), urging Nigerians to reject the ruling party in the 2027 general elections.

Eze, a former National Publicity Secretary of the defunct New Peoples Democratic Party,  and political ally of former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar and Amaechi, made his position known in a statement issued on Wednesday, November 4, 2026, in which he described the Tinubu administration as one of Nigeria’s most disappointing governments since the return to democratic rule in 1999.

His reaction followed remarks attributed to Amaechi, who reportedly questioned the possibility of Nigerians voting for the APC and Tinubu in the next presidential election.

Endorsing Amaechi’s position, Eze argued that the economic and security challenges confronting the country had reinforced the opposition’s criticism of the Federal Government.

He accused the Tinubu administration of failing to adequately address insecurity, corruption, unemployment, poverty, hunger and other difficulties affecting Nigerians.

The ADC chieftain also questioned the government’s priorities, alleging that the President had been more concerned with securing another term in office than providing effective leadership and addressing the country’s pressing challenges.

Eze further revisited Tinubu’s inaugural address of May 29, 2023, arguing that the President’s political intentions had become evident from the beginning of his administration.

He described the decision that brought Tinubu to office as a costly political mistake, maintaining that the administration had not met the expectations of many Nigerians.

On the economy, Eze alleged that government policies and what he described as poor administration had worsened the country’s economic difficulties, with ordinary citizens bearing the consequences.

He also raised concerns over insecurity, including banditry and kidnapping, accusing the Federal Government of failing to provide adequate responses to the threats.

Questioning the justification for another APC presidential mandate, he challenged Nigerians to assess the administration’s record before making their electoral choices in 2027.

Eze subsequently called on Nigerians to mobilise against the APC and support efforts to remove Tinubu from office through the ballot.

His comments add to the growing political exchanges between opposition figures and supporters of the ruling party as political activities begin to intensify ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The ADC chieftain’s intervention also underscores the party’s efforts to consolidate its opposition narrative around economic hardship, governance, accountability and the performance of the current administration.
