ASABA/Nigeria: Two experienced journalists, Olisa Ifeajika and Dr. Norbert Chiazor, have been appointed to lead the media and communications operations of former Delta State Governor, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa’s campaign organisation ahead of the 2027 Delta North Senatorial election.
The appointments place Ifeajika as Director of Media and Communications, while Chiazor will serve as Assistant Director, with both expected to coordinate the campaign’s communication strategy, media relations, advocacy and reputation management.
Their appointments were contained in a list signed by the Director-General of the Senator Ifeanyi Okowa Senatorial Campaign Council, Hon. Pascal Adigwe, and obtained by journalists in Asaba.
Both appointees previously served in Okowa’s administration, bringing experience in government communication, journalism and media management to the campaign.
Ifeajika, who was Deputy Editor-in-Chief of the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), served as Chief Press Secretary to Okowa between 2019 and 2023.
With more than three decades of professional experience, he is also a member of the Nigerian Guild of Editors.
Chiazor, a former Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Delta State Council, served as Executive Assistant on Media during the Okowa administration.
He has worked across broadcast, print and online journalism for over three decades and holds a PhD in Mass Communication.
The two journalists are expected to provide professional direction for the campaign’s public communication, coordinate engagements with media organisations and manage the dissemination of information on the candidate and his campaign activities.
Their appointment comes as political activities gather momentum ahead of the 2027 general elections, with candidates and political organisations increasingly positioning their communication structures to engage voters and present their programmes.
