Fr. Okonkwo Urges Nigerians to Shun Character Assassination, Anger

Catholic ChurchAsaba: Nigerians have been urged to shun character assassination and actions that will breed anger.
The Parish Priest of the Catholic Church of the Ascension, Asaba, Rev. Fr. Malachy Okonkwo made the call today (12/02/17) in a homily he delivered during the celebration of the holy Mass.
According to the Catholic Priest, “anger has a lot of negative implications, it has done a lot of harm than good in our country and we should avoid anything that will continue to breed anger.”
“Anger can only lead to destruction,” he said, emphasizing, “Jesus warned us against character assassination.
“Jesus said, ‘you have heard that it was said to the men of old that, you shall not kill; and whoever kills shall be liable to judgment; but, I say to you that everyone who is angry with his brother shall be liable to judgment; whoever insults his brother shall be liable to the council, and whoever says, ‘you fool,’ shall be liable to hell of fire.  So, if you are offering your gift at the alter, and there remember that your brother has something against you, leave your gift there before the alter and go, first be reconciled to your brother, and then cone and offer the gift.”
Fr. Malachy also urged women to dress decently, stating that while it is a sin for man to look at women lustfully, “women should dress not to please human beings but dress to please God.”
“Don’t allow your dressing make people to look at you lustfully, mind what you wear, don’t expose yourself to the public; don’t dress to seduce people, dress to please God,” the Priest said.
