Warri: Women have been advised to be in the fore front of pursuing their carriers and developmental goals if they are to achieve success.
The advice was handed down to women by the Executive Director, Social Services development, on the board of the Delta State Oil Producing Areas development Commission, (DESOPADEC), Hon Ochor Chris Ochor during the 2017 International Women’s Day celebration in Warri, Delta State, in his congratulatory message.
Hon Ochor who celebrated the event with the Morgan Smart Development Foundation, (MSDF), said the Theme of the celebration, “Be Bold for Change” can only be real if the woman can explore her potentials without depending on others to do it for her.
“You have to take part in doing more for yourselves rather than always relying more on others”. He said.
“And this should not only be in business, but in politics and governance”. He added.
According to Hon Ochor, one of the areas the women should help the society as they celebrate the annual Women’s Day is to end the growing trend in indecent dressings which is not only affecting the young girls, but also the adults among them and married women.
“It is disturbing in the rising of indecent dressings among the women. This is not only among young girls, but also among the adults, including the married women. In the entertainment industry it is annoying, where the male folks will not only be well dressed not with one shirt, but two, three, and the women are either semi nude or completely nude. This is bad and the women have to deal with this, you have to take action”.
“The United nation theme of the 2017 Women’s Day celebration of “Be Bold for Change” will not be realised without you taking charge, and participating on things that affects you and the society”. He warned.
