LAGOS/Nigeria: The African Cleanup Initiative (ACI) has unveiled plans to mark its 15th anniversary by planting 1,500 trees and distributing 15,000 copies of the Green Book across Nigeria, as part of its ongoing commitment to environmental sustainability.
At a press conference held in Lagos, Dr. Alexander Akhigbe, Founder of ACI, announced a series of impactful events that will take place as part of the “Green Week of Impact” from June 9th to 15th, aimed at engaging communities nationwide in promoting environmental stewardship.
In addition to the tree planting and book distribution, ACI will organize large-scale cleanup exercises across the country and donate 5,000 reusable sanitary pads to support women and girls, furthering its mission to integrate sustainability into every facet of Nigerian life.
“Our anniversary is a time to reflect on our journey, appreciate the selfless contributions that have made this possible, and renew our commitment to both people and the planet,” Dr. Akhigbe said. “We invite all stakeholders, partners, and supporters to join us as we celebrate 15 years of environmental activism and work toward building an environmentally responsible generation.”
The “Green Week of Impact” will also feature the Recyclespay Quiz & Debate Competition, an awards and dinner night, and a thanksgiving service to conclude the week-long celebration.
Dr. Akhigbe stressed the importance of collective action and collaboration in building environmentally conscious citizens, encouraging everyone to play a role in preserving Nigeria’s natural resources for future generations.
