
ASABA/Nigeria: The Chief Press Secretary to the Delta State Governor, Sir Festus Ahon, has been honoured with a Special Recognition Award as a Friend of the Press by Inside-Out Limited, operators of Trend 100.9 FM, in acknowledgement of his steadfast commitment to media engagement and effective communication of government policies.
The award, presented during the 10th-anniversary celebration of Trend 100.9 FM held in Asaba on Sunday, recognized Sir Ahon’s outstanding contributions to promoting Governor Sheriff Oborevwori’s M.O.R.E. Agenda, particularly in amplifying the administration’s strides in human capital and infrastructural development across Delta State.
According to the management of the radio station, Sir Ahon’s professionalism and consistent support for the media have played a crucial role in shaping public perception and fostering a positive image of the Oborevwori administration.
“Sir Festus Ahon has remained a reliable bridge between the government and the media community. His open-door policy and proactive communication style have strengthened trust and transparency in governance,” the organizers noted.
Represented by Mr. Ivovi Aruoriwo, an Assistant Director of Information in the Directorate of Government House and Protocol, Sir Ahon expressed appreciation to Trend 100.9 FM for the recognition and commended the station for a decade of excellence in broadcasting.
“This honour means a lot to me. I dedicate it to His Excellency, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, whose visionary leadership and commitment to inclusive governance have made our work in public communication impactful and fulfilling,” Ahon said.
The Chief Press Secretary also thanked members of the Government House Press Corps for their professionalism and teamwork, describing the award as a shared achievement.
“The media remains a vital partner in governance. I commend Trend 100.9 FM for its balanced reporting and dedication to community service. Over the past ten years, the station has earned its place as a trusted voice in Delta and beyond,” he added.
Other notable personalities honoured at the event included the Commissioner for Humanitarian Affairs, Ms. Orode Uduaghan; Chairman of Oshimili South Local Government Council, Dr. Kelvin Ezenyili; Director-General, Delta State Contributory Health Commission, Dr. Isaac Akpoveta; and veteran broadcaster and Executive Assistant to the Governor on Sports Development, Mr. Harrison Ocholor, among others.
The ceremony, attended by top government officials, media executives, and community leaders, was a celebration of a decade of impactful broadcasting by Trend 100.9 FM — a station widely regarded for its commitment to balanced journalism, civic engagement, and public enlightenment.
