WARRI/Nigeria: The Secretary to the Judicial Panel on Police Brutality and Extra-Judicial killing, Mr. Omamuzo Erebe Esq, has assured that all petitioners would be given equal opportunity to be heard.
Mr. Erebe gave this assurance while speaking to Pressmen at the end of it’s sitting in Warri, as he said that “the duty of the Panel is to hear all petition and no one would be denied the right to be held.
He stated they as a Panel they have tried to be fair to both Petitioners and Respondents, he said that at the end of its sittings the Panel will sit to take position in each of the matters
He added that the duty of the Panel is to ensure they capture what the grievances are, and make recommendations based on the facts and not on emotions that have been brought “to us for Government to take a position.”
Mr. Erebe averred that” the implementation of the Panel decisions. Or recommendations is not that of the Panel but that of the Government, the Panel is just to hear and make recommendation to the Government.”
Mr. Erebe speaking further said the Panel made sure that opportunity was giving to. Everyone to ventilate their claim, ideally, he said it would have been easy to strike out some of these matters to be fair to them,” we tried to hear everybody and afford them another opportunity to ventilate their claim.”
