Always Adopt Peaceful Changeover- Okowa

Communities and Kingdoms have been called upon to always adopt peaceful changeover, especially in the process of ascending traditional stools.

The call was made by the Governor of Delta State, Senator Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa, while presenting Staff of office to His Royal Majesty, Kenneth Eneriakpoze Onomeregwae, the Odiologbo of Erohwa Kingdom in Isoko South Local Government Area, Delta State.

Governor Okowa, who was represented by his Deputy, Barr. Kingsley Otuaro, congratulated the royal father on his ascension to the throne of his ancestors. He added that, the institution of the Odiologbo makes great impact on the people of Erohwa.

He charged the people of Erohwa to strive to promote the true essence of the stool by according His Majesty, the respect, support, understanding and cooperation he sincerely deserves.

Governor Okowa, charge the Odiologbo of Erohwa Kingdom to discharge his responsibilities by being fair and just to his subjects. According to him; “As the guardian of the tradition and culture of your people, it is important that you do not give cause for your subjects to doubt your ability to uphold the sanctity of their customs. I appeal to you to imbibe the democratic virtues of dialogue and consultation in all your dealings with the people”. The governor said.

While noting that Erohwa kingdom is well known for its abundant agricultural production, especially cassava, yam and fish, he urged them to take advantage of the various openings in government policies and programmes to improve on their capacities and add value to their harvests.

While thanking the people of Erohwa kingdom for appreciating the ongoing development efforts of the state government, Okowa assured that their appeal for assistance and government intervention in specific areas has been noted and will be channelled to the appropriate agencies of government for necessary attention.

The Chairman of Isoko South Local Government Area, Hon. Itiako Ikpokpo, lauded the state governor for awarding the construction of the Erohwa community road, noting that it is the first time a construction of road is being experienced in the community.

Hon. Ikpokpo urged the people of Erohwa community to support the state government and continue to remain law abiding in the pursuance of peace and harmony in the kingdom.

Earlier, the Chairman, Erohwa Community, Mr. Eanest Osuedi, in an address presented on behalf of the community, appreciated the ongoing efforts of the state government in community welfare, and appealed for the construction of two access roads to link Patani, Erohwa, Abari and Asaba-Ase road that traverse the territory.

Mr. Osuedi, also appealed for the completion of the comprehensive Health Centre, skill acquisition centre designed to accommodate over three thousand, five hundred youths in various vocational training, as well as linkage of electricity supply to Erohwa kingdom via the national grid through Uzere, saying the completion of the various projects will have direct impact and bearing on the lives of the Erohwe people.
