
ASABA/Nigeria: In a show of commitment to youth empowerment and national defence, the Delta State Government has announced a coordinated transport arrangement for 691 shortlisted candidates of Delta origin participating in the Nigerian Army’s 89 Regular Recruits Intake screening exercise scheduled for Monday, June 9, 2025, at the Cenotaph Complex, Asaba.
The initiative, driven by the State Awareness Creation Committee on Youth Enlistment into Military and Paramilitary Services, is a follow-up to Governor Sheriff Oborevwori’s earlier pledge to provide logistical support for eligible Delta youths during their enlistment processes.
In a government special announcement issued by the Director General of the Delta State Orientation and Communications Bureau, Dr. Fred Latimore Oghenesivbe, five branded buses will operate from various pickup points across the three senatorial districts to ensure safe and timely arrival of candidates for the crucial screening exercise.
From Delta South Senatorial District, candidates from Burutu, Warri South, Warri South West, Udu, and Uvwie local government areas are to board BUS 1 (CAN branded) at Shoprite by Agofure Motor Park, Warri/Effurun by 8:00 am.
BUS 2 (WOWICAN branded) will depart from Patani-Ughelli Motor Park by the bridge for candidates from Bomadi, Ughelli South, and Ughelli North. Additional stops include Kwale Junction in Ughelli, Oleh Roundabout in Isoko South, and Southern Delta University in Isoko North.
BUS 3 (YOWICAN branded), assigned to Sapele axis, will pick up candidates from Okrighwe Junction and cover Warri North, Sapele, Ethiope East, Ethiope West, and Ukwuani LGAs.
For Delta North Senatorial District, BUS 4 (MoJ branded) will pick up candidates from Ogume Junction in Kwale, Kwale Junction in Ogwashi-Uku, and St. Augustine College in Ibusa.
BUS 5 (Ministry of Women Affairs branded) will operate from College Junction in Agbor, City Gate in Issele-Uku, Polytechnic Junction in Ogwashi-Uku, and City Gate in Okpanam, transporting candidates from Ika South, Ika North East, Aniocha South, Oshimili North, and Oshimili South LGAs.
“All shortlisted candidates are expected to be at their respective pick-up points by 8:00 am prompt on Monday, June 9, 2025,” the statement emphasized.
