EFFURUN/Nigeria: To deepen the participation of Christians in politics in Delta State, Christians had been enjoined to register to vote at any election.
This was advocated by Rt. Rev. Justus Mogekwu, Bishop of Asaba Diocese, Anglican Communion and, Very Reverend Fr. Kofa Ithanasius, of St. Benedict Catholic Church Patani, during Christian Community Platform, CCP, prayer conference, held at the Great Anointing Favour Bible Church International incorporated, Effurun, Delta State.
They both shared the views that every preacher in Delta state should henceforth, make it mandatory for their members to have PVC before they could participate in Holy Communion.
Rt Rev Mogekwu, said if men who are righteous and fear God are in power, the people rejoice, claiming that Deltans should make sure at all levels of governance, men who fear God are in authorities.
He added that he is particularly pleased with the manner in which Senator Dr Arthur Ifeanyi Okowa is administrating the state, spreading the dividends of democracy everywhere.
Rev Fr. Kofa, who also, measured as the CAN Chairman and coordinator of CCP in Patani local government area, said it is a sin not to register to vote by INEC.
The man of God while unveiling the CCP International Christian news magazine known as ” THE TRUEPATH ” explained that children of God should not murmur by complaining when men who do not have the fear of God, are in power if they on their own refused to be involved in politics.
“Pastors, should ensure their members get their PVC before they take their Communion and do other worship services in the household of God. As Communion is important to us as Christians, which make us healthy, spirit filled, and to be very strong, it is such with PVC which makes us enthrone good governance at any level”
He prayed for the spirit of God to continue to direct the affairs of the state, all children of God across the state to be committed to the things of the spirit and as well make the right decisions while choosing their leaders.
The Peoples Democratic Party Chairman in Uvwie Local Government Area, Mr Koledo who fielded questions from journalists at the event, also admonished Christians to be actively involved in politics so that they could not be left behind in the scheme of things.
He commended the organisers of the CCP Prayer conference which he says, “their relentless prayers for the state is a very good thing. We are supporting them because they are doing good things for the state. We too as Christians must be part of what they are doing, not only for themselves but to the entire state and country”
He encouraged the Christians not to relent in their goods works, remarking that they will continue to receive the reward of their efforts.
Mr Koledo, pointed out that since the evolution of mankind, we are political animals and therefore, we must collectively play the game to move our state and the country in particular forward so that those things we aspire to get will come to us in a platter of gold.
