ACNPN Passes Vote Of Confidence on Delta Information Commissioner … Lauds Governor Okowa on Project Execution, Delivery

ASABA/Nigeria: Rising from an extraordinary meeting yesterday in Asaba, the Association of Community Newspaper Publishers of Nigeria (ACNPN), Delta State Chapter has in its 3-point communiqué, passed an implicit vote of confidence on the Delta State Commissioner of Information, Mr. Charles Ehiedu Aniagwu.

The group applauded the Commissioner for his unbiased and impartial way of handling the affairs of journalists and publishers in the state, adding that his professionalism, transparency and honest media management earned him the elevation from Chief Press Secretary to Commissioner of Information.

Furthermore, Aniagwu was appreciated for helping to resolve the lingering crisis in the Association which was orchestrated by some members who felt they should be in leadership and not the elected Jude Obiemenyego.

The group also lauded and eulogized the Governor of Delta State, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa for his massive projects execution, especially in road infrastructure and delivery of good governance.

The communiqué read that “In spite of the massive execution of projects, especially in road infrastructure in Okowa’s first tenure, Deltans were again inundated with same progressive consistency in his second term. Okowa has proven to be a different kind of very unique leader, who places high premium on leadership quality, precision and prudence.

The Association equally passed a vote of confidence on its Chairman, Mr. Jude Obiemenyego, commending him for carrying all members along in his leadership programmes and projects. It however, advised dissenting members to pledge their loyalty to Obiemenyego’s leadership in the interest of peace and unity of purpose.

Explaining further, the group reminded members that in a bid to resolve the issue of factions created when the body was previously in crisis, the leaders then met and resolved to collapse all factional groups under the umbrella body – ACNPN. It said that Comrade Patrick Ochei collapsed Community Newspaper Publishers Association of Nigeria (CONPAN), Femi Odonmeta collapsed Delta Guild of Indigenous Newspaper Publishers (DGINP) and then Precious Enebuse who was then leading Association of Community Newspaper Publishers of Nigeria (ACNPN), emerged the Transition Chairman through an election. Enebuse’s Interim Exco then midwifed the election of Jude Obiemenyego as the substantive Chairman of ACNPN.

The above explanation buttressed the fact that under this Accord which is Bellwood Accord, all publishers in the State had come under one body and should no longer factionalise as backed by the ACNPN Constitution.

The ACNPN Congress nonetheless, called on all aggrieved members to join hands with Obiemenyego to build a virile and formidable Association that every stakeholder in the state would be proud of. The congress reminded them that the Constitution is sacrosanct on how members can come to power and be removed.
