KWALE/Nigeria: The Chairman of Ndokwa West Local Government Council, Hon.  Ifeanyi Osakwe has described as barbaric alleged killing of a police sergeant, the injuring of two other officers and the making away with an AK 47 riffle by suspected Emu-Obodoeti youths during their festival.

Hon Osakwe who visited the community in company of the Commissioner for Bureau of Special duties,  Barr Ernest Ogwezzy,  the Assistant Commissioner of Police and a detachment of security agents, noted that the people of the local government area were peace loving and not known for violent disposition towards Law Enforcement Agents.

The Chairman maintained that as the chief security officer of the local government area, he would stop at nothing to get to the bottom of the matter, stressing that nobody or community under any guise or sponsorship would destroy in one day and go unpunished the goodwill the local government had built over the years.

At the Palace of the Ezemu of Emu Kingdom, Obuenwe Johnson Ulu at Emu-Unor, the story was not different as the royal father condemned the attack on the policemen describing it as disheartening.

As part of efforts to return peace to the troubled community, the Commissioner for Bureau of Special Duties, Barr Ernest Ogwezzy, the Council Chairman, Hon. Ifeanyi Osakwe and the Assistant Commissioner of Police appealed to the royal father to use his traditional institutions to bring peace to the community.

They also resolved at the Palace that the parties involved in the crisis should be invited separately to a meeting in order to ascertain the immediate causes of the unwarranted attack on the policemen.

Trouble was said to have started on Sunday, March 11, 2018 when crisis erupted between two factions in the community while singing folklore songs to mark their festival.

The clash between both factions led to the exchange of bullets which brought about the presence of policemen in the community who were shot at by irate youths killing one, injuring two and in the process snatching away one AK 47 assault rifle.
