ASABA/Nigeria: The National Youth Service Corps, NYSC in Delta State has taken responsibility for making federal workers to wash their hands and sanitize same before entering their various offices as they resumed duty today, Monday 4th May, 2020 at the Federal Secretariat, Asaba.

Addressing newsmen, the NYSC State Coordinator, Mrs. Olutayo Samuel said the action was sequel to the circular from the office of the Federal Head of Service, directing the resumption of workers from Level 14 and above today.

She explained that as a service oriented Scheme, the Director General of NYSC, Brig. Gen. Ibrahim Shuaibu as usual, directed all the state offices to ensure that provisions were made for hand washing and hand sanitizing for workers who would be resuming duty today and beyond.

According to Samuel, “The underlying message in this initiative is simply to continue to sensitize workers and other Nigerians to take responsibility for their own hygiene and keep safe in line with approved precautionary measures against the spread of the Coronavirus pandemic.

“We must commend our amiable DG who had been responsive and proactive in creating awareness, producing PPE and distributing to Government and the public since the inception of Covid-19 in the country.

“As we are here carrying out this task at the Federal Secretariat where we share office, the same is ongoing at the Zonal and Local Government Inspectorate offices as directed.

“It’s our desire and prayer that cure is found for this Coronavirus pandemic. However, the Scheme and the corps members are ever ready to continue to sensitize the public on the dangers of Covid-19 while also making available Personal Protective Equipment as our contribution to the fight against the novel Coronavirus”, Samuel posited.

It was an interesting moment today as corps members manned different points with hand washing soaps and water while sanitizers were also applied on the hands of every worker that resumed at the Secretariat today, including visitors.
