ASABA/Nigeria: Managing Director of Delta State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission (DESOPADEC), Olorogun William Makinde has been described as a highly detribalized, result oriented and prudent manager of scarce resources, for the good of oil producing communities in the state.
Executive Assistant (Communications) to the Governor of Delta State, Dr Fred Latimore Oghenesivbe made the commendation in a goodwill message on the occasion of Makinde’s 58th birthday anniversary celebration.
He noted that DESOPADEC under Makinde, executed several key projects across oil producing areas and also played strategic roles in the SMART Agenda of this administration, especially in human capital development, empowerment, girl child education, peace building, community relations and security.
Oghenesivbe, a Rotarian and member of the American Political Science Association (APSA), further described Olorogun Makinde, as a man with “heart of gold” as can be seen from his numerous philanthropic and people oriented empowerment projects and activities; which in no small measures contributed to the huge success of the job and wealth creation programmes as well as infrastructure development of this administration under the state governor, Senator Dr Ifeanyi Okowa.
“Olorogun Makinde, has a large heart and as a deep thinker and consummate leader, did the needful to associate himself with the high and low across board; which is why he has been able, over the years, to distinguish himself as a ‘selfless and prudent’ public servant with uncommon passion for philanthropic projects.
“It is fascinating to note that Makinde usually celebrate his birthdays with the indigents and prison inmates, and this year’s birthday was well celebrated as Sapele Prisons went agog on Saturday 20th April, 2019. The birthday cake was shared and several beneficiaries of Makinde’s Skills acquisition programme received graduation certificates.
“It follows that Makinde’s kind heart and leadership ingenuity is worthy of emulation by political leaders, elected representatives, senior political appointees and public servants, across board.
“I pray God to grant him many more successful years garnished with all kinds of blessings, and above all, grant him long life and consistent upgrade to the mountain top of his career and in politics,” Oghenesivbe said.
