ASABA/Nigeria: Delta State Commissioner for Information, Dr Ifeanyi Michael Osuoza, has been honoured with the prestigious Hero of Auchi Polytechnic Award, joining a distinguished group of 53 notable alumni celebrated for their outstanding achievements and contributions to society.
The award, presented during the institution’s 61st Anniversary and its combined 26th-29th convocation ceremony on Saturday, November 16, 2024, recognises graduates who have excelled in their careers, businesses, and political endeavours. The list of honourees also includes posthumous recognitions for former Minister of Foreign Affairs, Chief Tom Ikimi; the late media mogul, High Chief Raymond Dokpesi; immediate past GMD/CEO of Zenith Bank, Mr Ebenezer Onyeagwu; and young Nigerian music sensation Crown Uzama, popularly known as Shallipopi.
The Heroes of Auchi Polytechnic Award was conceived by the institution’s Alumni Association to spotlight graduates who have not only excelled in their fields but have also given back to the polytechnic through initiatives in human capital development, infrastructural support, and service to the Alumni Association and humanity.
In a goodwill message on behalf of the Delta State Government, Dr Osuoza expressed his heartfelt congratulations to Auchi Polytechnic on its landmark 61st Anniversary and the combined convocation ceremony. He praised the institution’s transformation into a globally renowned citadel of learning and its legacy of producing distinguished Nigerians across various fields of endeavour.
“Auchi Polytechnic has, over the last 61 years, evolved into a globally recognised institution of academic excellence,” Dr Osuoza said. “It stands as a beacon of educational brilliance, having nurtured and produced highly respected individuals who have excelled both at home and abroad.”
Dr Osuoza also highlighted the historical connection between Delta State and Auchi Polytechnic, tracing their shared heritage to the days of the old Bendel State. He lauded the institution’s leadership, under Rector Dr Salisu Shehu Umar, for its unwavering commitment to its mandate of delivering quality education and producing graduates of exceptional calibre.
