ASABA/Nigeria: The 3rd of September 2020, the day members of Delta The Nigeria Association of Women Journalists, NAWOJ will not forget in a hurry. On that day, one of the founding members of the Nigeria Association of Women Journalists, NAWOJ, and immediate past General Manager of Delta Broadcasting Service, DBS, Asaba, Lady Evelyn Binitie, bowed out of the state Civil Service, after serving the Government for 35 years.
On that day, the Chairperson of the Nigeria Association of Women Journalists NAWOJ, Delta State, Comrade Pat Gbemudu, led members of the Association to felicitate with her at the DBS Asaba, where the importance of making positive impact and leaving lasting legacies was emphasized.
Comrade Gbemudu described Lady Binitie as an influential leader who has inspired greatness in the lives of many who had come in contact with her, adding that as a member of NAWOJ, Lady Binitie played a key role in ensuring that NAWOJ became a household name in Delta State.
The NAWOJ Chairperson said lady Binitie made the women journalists proud in the way she carried out her responsibilities, even as the Head of the News and Current Affairs Department and all through her tenure as a General Manager of DBS Asaba, a sensitive position occupied only by men before now, saying that she would be missed by all, especially Nawojians.
Responding, Lady Evelyn Binitie expressed gratitude to God for the grace to retire strong and healthy, adding that she had been looking forward to her retirement day.
She thanked members of NAWOJ for celebrating with her saying that she was proud of the Patricia Gbemudu administration, given the numerous achievements, especially in the area of advocacy.
Lady Binitie urged the NAWOJ chairperson to continue her good works, assuring that she would not relent in her support for the continual growth of the Association.
There were also free speeches from members of the Association including Comrade Eunice Emeyazia, Comrade Anthonia Mowah, Comrade Nwasandi Otene, Comrade Bridget Agetu and Comrade Vivian Nkechika, as they shared testimonies of how Lady Evelyn Binitie impacted them and those in their sphere of contact.
