EASTER: Deputy Speaker DTHA Task Constituents to Be Prayerful, as the World Celebrates Amidst the Covid-19 Pandemic

ASABA/Nigeria: The people of Ukwuani State Constituency had been asked to continue to be prayerful, and hope for a new dawn, even in the midst of the world coronavirus pandemic, which had cut down the joy of social interaction, during this time of the year.

The advice was made by the Deputy Speaker, Delta State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon Christopher Ochor Ochor in his Easter Message to his constituency.

The Deputy Speaker, in the Message signed by his Press Secretary, Emmanuel Enebeli, admonished the constituents to use the period to reflect on the lives, and for the economic development of the area, which for now had been curtailed by the appearance of the Coronavirus disease in the world.

He stated that though this time of Easter celebration is a time to jointly worship, and thank God for the great sacrifice he made for the sake of mankind, by going to church, and gathering together to reflect on the miracles of Easter, but this aspect of the celebration had been cut shut, because of the pandemic, they should therefore look at the present situation to know that hope is not lost, as the pandemic is another way God is telling the world he had not left mankind.

“This period calls for a deep reflection in our lives. We as a people should not take the lockdown associated with the Coronavirus pandemic to be any form of purnishment, but look at it as God given us a sign that He had not left mankind. We should look at the appearance of the virus at this time of Easter as a time for us to reflect on our lives, and the development of our communities in Ukwuani Local Government Area.”

While congratulating and wishing them a joyful celebration, he admonished them to continue to observe the necessary medical instructions, as giving by the government on the fight against the Coronavirus pandemic, and other relevant agencies to stay alive, as only those who are alive can celebrate. He noted that the adverse effect of the lockdown on their lives, especially coming from a background of an agrarian economy.  He noted that the government is not forgetting them, and every efforts is being done by the administration to alleviate their pains.

“I congratulate you all, Christians especially for this year’s Easter celebration. I know your pains, especially on the Lockdown, which was done to save us from being infected by the Coronavirus disease, it’s not to purnish any of you. The government of Senator Ifeanyi Okowa is doing everything possible to alleviate the pains of the Lockdown.”

“Let us continue to obey all the necessary medical directives. We should continue the washing of our hands with water and soap or sanitiser. Obey social distancing, and observe our body changes.”
