The Deputy Speaker, Delta State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Friday Ossai Osanebi has reassured Deltans that Governor Okowa is committed to the Delta Beyond Tribe agenda. A transformation mandate which is geared at transforming Delta State Beyond Tribe and political sentiments.
The Deputy Speaker made this declaration when the Urhobo Media Practitioners Forum paid him a courtesy call in his office today in Asaba.
Welcoming the forum to his office, the Deputy Speaker thanked the forum for coming and for their supportive role during last gubernatorial elections and revealed that the emergence of His Excellency, Sen. (Dr) Ifeanyi Okowa as governor of Delta State is a testimony of his acceptance and his Pan-Delta personality, and will not fail Deltans in his Prosperity contract with them.
He charged journalists not to be green to the trick of selfish politicians who are bent at making personal gains to the detriment of Deltans, but their reports should be people oriented and not to heat up the polity unnecessary: “thanks for your congratulatory messages. By the grace of God we’ll redefine the political fortune of the Delta youths whom I represent. I want to employ you all to report events the way they are and we should be veritable tools in the dissemination of people oriented news and not adding more pressure. No body will protect our state for us. We must always report things the way they are and not garnishing stories with lies.” He said.
He further called media practitioners to assist in sensitizing Deltans leaving in flood prone areas, of the likely imminent natural disaster and to live ready.
Speaking unbehalf of the forum, the chairman, Dr. Prince Orhomonokpaye,congratulated the Deputy Speaker on his emergence and further commended him for his empowerment programs. He further revealed that the Deputy Speaker’s empowerment schemes are not centered in Ndokwa Nation alone but are spread across Delta State. Hear him:” I can authoritatively say that you have empowered over 50 young men from Urhobo land. We are proud of you and we want to be associated with you and always report your good works. We want to also thank you unbehalf of NUJ, Delta State chapter for furnishing the NUJ secretariat. It’s not been political but a kind gesture. We commend you and pray God to always bless you.”
Thanking the Deputy Speaker unbehalf of the team,Mr. Shedrack Onisha, Publisher of Advocate News Paper said they are happy to see the Deputy Speaker despite the short notice and also expressed their readiness to work together with the Deputy Speaker and the Governor of Delta State for a better Delta State.
