Guwor Mourns General Paul Omu, Hails Legacy of Distinguished Service

ASABA/Nigeria: Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Emomotimi Dennis Guwor, has extended heartfelt condolences to the Isoko Nation over the passing of retired General Paul Ufuoma Omu, a native of Igbide in Isoko South Local Government Area. The elder statesman and former Military Administrator died at the age of 84.
In a condolence message issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Nkem Nwaeke, the Speaker described the death of General Omu as a profound loss not just to the Isoko people but to Delta State and the entire nation.
Guwor paid glowing tribute to the late General’s illustrious military career and his service in various public offices after retirement, including his roles as Military Administrator of both Cross River and Akwa Ibom States. He noted that the nation remains indebted to General Omu for his patriotic contributions to national unity and development.
“The reactions to his passing are a blend of grief and gratitude—grief for the loss of a fine officer and statesman, and gratitude for a life spent in the service of Nigeria,” the Speaker stated.
On behalf of the Delta State House of Assembly, Guwor commiserated with the immediate family of the deceased, including his wife, former Chief Whip of the Senate, Senator Stella Omu, and prayed for God to grant the late General eternal rest.
He further urged the Igbide community, the Isoko South 2 Constituency, and the entire Isoko nation to take comfort in the enduring legacy of General Omu, whose life exemplified duty, discipline, and selfless leadership.
“His legacy lives on in the lives he touched, the institutions he served, and the values he stood for,” the Speaker added.
