INEC Declares Oborevwori Governor-Elect With 360,234 Votes In Delta

ASABA/Nigeria: The candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, and Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon Sheriff Oborevwori, has been declared the winner in Saturday March 18 Gubernatorial election.

PDP garnered the highest number of votes cast in 21 local government areas to secure victory for its candidate in the polls, while the APC won in 4 local government areas.

The party won in Aniocha North, Aniocha South, Ika North East, Ika South, Ndokwa East, Ndokwa West, Ukwuani, Oshimili North, Oshimili South, Isoko North, Isoko South, Ethiope East, Ethiope West, Okpe, Sapele, Warri North, Warri South, Bomadi, Patani, Burutu and Warri South West.

APC won in Udu, Uvwie, Ughelli North and Ughelli South.

The PDP candidate was declared winner and returned elected by the Returning Officer for the Gubernatorial election,  Prof Georgewill Owunari, who is also the Vice Chancellor of the University of Port Harcourt.

The Governor-elect polled a total of 360,234 of the valid votes cast to defeat his distant rival, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege of the All Progressives Congress, APC, who garnered 240,229 votes.

710,829 voters were accredited for the election, while the valid votes cast stood at 671,7371.

The APC Agent showed gory pictures of his Party supporters that were allegedly macheted by suspected PDP thugs that despite those recorded violence cases the Returning Officer still declared results from those areas.

****Responding, One Emeka Omerabor, Chairman of IPAC in Delta State challenged the results from Ughelli North.

***** Kingsley Esiso, PDP Chairman in Delta State also alleged that The Deputy President of the Senate DSP Ovie Omo-Agege is involved in holding INEC official hostage in Ward 9 of Ughelli North LGA of Delta State

****Efe Duku, representing APC said his Party condemned the alleged hostage-taking of some INEC officials…. He said he condemned what he described as “demeaning the reputation of the Deputy President of the Senate DSP Ovie Omo-Agege by the PDP and it’s agents”.

****The Returning Officer reported that BVAS was bypassed in many areas… Electoral Officers were forced to accept results from Wards 5&6 in Warri South-West which they accepted under duress but did not record at the LGA Collation Center.

Mutilated results not corresponding with accredited Voters figures were as a result of the cancellation of bypassed BVAS results.
