ASABA/Nigeria: The Chief of Staff to Senator Ned Nwoko, Dr. Michael Nwoko, has described the recent high-powered Delta State All Progressives Congress (APC) stakeholders’ meeting held at Government House, Asaba, as a “turning point” in the political evolution of the state, stressing that unity and cohesion remain the cornerstone of APC’s success ahead of the 2027 elections.
Speaking to reporters after the meeting, Dr. Nwoko said the gathering signified a new phase of political consolidation, where collaboration rather than competition would define the APC’s future strength and direction in Delta State.
He disclosed that Senator Ned Nwoko played a pivotal role at the meeting, using the opportunity to preach unity, reconciliation, and sincerity of purpose among party leaders across Delta North and beyond.
“Senator Ned Nwoko was very clear in his message,” Dr. Nwoko said. “He urged leaders at all levels — from wards to local governments and senatorial districts — to close ranks and work together. His call was not political rhetoric but a sincere appeal for transformative leadership rooted in peace and collaboration.”
According to him, Senator Nwoko reaffirmed his unwavering support for both President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s re-election and Governor Sheriff Oborevwori’s second-term ambition, noting that the two leaders represent stability, development, and inclusivity in governance.
The stakeholders’ meeting, attended by top political figures including Governor Oborevwori, former Governor Ifeanyi Okowa, Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, Senator Joel-Onowakpo Thomas (Delta South), and Senator Ede Dafinone (Delta Central), was seen as a strategic step in strengthening APC’s dominance following a wave of high-profile defections from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Dr. Nwoko noted that the political landscape in Delta had undergone a dramatic transformation since early 2025 with the defection of key figures such as Senator Nwoko, Governor Oborevwori, and former Governor Okowa — marking the first time since 1999 that all three senators representing the state are from the APC.
“It is a new dawn in Delta State — the beginning of a new chapter,” Dr. Nwoko declared. “This meeting reminded us that team spirit is not a slogan; it’s a strategic necessity. The defection of leaders must not be cosmetic; it must be transformative. We must protect this momentum with sincerity, discipline, and collective resolve.”
He emphasized that unity across Delta’s diverse ethnic blocs — Anioma, Urhobo, Itsekiri, Isoko, and Ijaw — would be key to not only securing electoral victory in 2027 but also achieving sustainable development goals such as the renewed quest for the creation of Anioma State, championed by Senator Nwoko.
“Senator Nwoko is leading by example,” Dr. Nwoko added. “Through projects in road construction, dam rehabilitation, solar electrification, and empowerment for youths and women, he’s showing what purposeful leadership looks like. This is what the APC must replicate across all senatorial zones.”
He commended the commitment of all leaders present and described the meeting as a collective reaffirmation of the APC’s resolve to transform Delta State into a model of unity, inclusiveness, and progress in the South-South.
“As Delta positions itself as the political pacesetter of the South-South, Senator Ned Nwoko will continue to be at the forefront of efforts to build bridges, promote equity, and advance prosperity for all,” Dr. Nwoko stated.
