WARRI/Nigeria: Mrs Timiebi Guwor, wife of the Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, orchestrated a two-day Free Medical Outreach in Warri South West constituency that saw an overwhelming turnout of hundreds seeking medical assistance. The initiative, launched to commemorate her 40th birth anniversary, garnered significant success as diverse health issues were addressed across various centers in the local government area.
The program’s inauguration at Ogbe-Ijoh, Warri South West’s headquarters, drew dignitaries including government officials, the State Governor’s wife, Mrs Tobore Oborevrwori, Civil Commissioners, and community leaders. The venue, Ogbe-Ijoh Community Town Hall, buzzed with activity as Health Personnel attended to the multitude of patients, including expectant mothers and nursing women.
Flanked by her husband, Rt Hon Emomotimi Guwor, Mrs Guwor highlighted that this initiative was a token of gratitude for the grace bestowed upon her family. Emphasizing the significance of health, she expressed hope that the outreach would alleviate the patients’ suffering while reaffirming her commitment to enhancing lives in the locality.
Mrs Tobore Oborevwori, representing the Governor’s wife, lauded Mrs Guwor’s endeavor, aligning it with her “You Matter” Foundation and her husband’s MORE agenda, emphasizing the government’s dedication to sustainable development.
Acknowledging Mrs Guwor’s efforts, the Commissioner for Health reiterated the government’s commitment to meeting healthcare needs. The Speaker, Emomotimi Guwor, praised his wife’s altruism, redirecting resources from a grand celebration to supporting those in dire health conditions.
Sixty healthcare professionals were engaged for the Free Medical Outreach. Attendees received immediate treatment for diagnosed ailments, with severe cases referred to larger medical facilities. Additionally, the Speaker announced the enrollment of two thousand constituents into the Delta State Contributory Health Insurance Scheme, stressing its non-partisan nature.
The Speaker, investing fourteen million naira to enroll these constituents into the scheme, assured fair distribution across the constituency’s ten wards. He pledged continued support to Warri South West locals who endorsed his State Assembly position, expressing gratitude for their role in his political journey.
Various dignitaries, including the Chairman of Warri South West and beneficiaries, extended heartfelt appreciation to the Guwors for dedicating the birthday anniversary to serve the community.
The medical services offered encompassed Laboratory Tests, Screenings, Outpatient Consultations, Surgeries, Antenatal care, and Vital Signs Monitoring, emphasizing a comprehensive approach to addressing healthcare needs.
