Ned Nwoko Offers Support to Agbor Tanker Fire Victims

AGBOR/Nigeria: In response to the humanitarian needs of victims affected by the devastating tanker fire in Agbor, Delta State, Senator Ned Nwoko, representing Delta North Senatorial District, has promised material support to assist the grieving families and those who lost properties.

The tragic incident occurred last Sunday when a fuel-laden tanker lost control on Old Lagos Road in Agbor, Ika South Local Government Area, and erupted in flames. The inferno claimed six lives and destroyed properties worth millions of naira.

Senator Nwoko, moved by the scale of the tragedy, dispatched a delegation to console the victims’ families and assess their losses. Earlier, he had issued a public statement expressing his heartfelt condolences.

Speaking during the visit, High Chief Ugo Asibelua, head of the senator’s office in Asaba, conveyed Senator Nwoko’s deep grief over the incident. “Senator Nwoko is profoundly touched by the tragic loss of lives and properties in this unfortunate incident,” he said.

Dr. Michael Nwoko, Senior Legislative Aide and Chief of Staff to the senator, explained that the visit was to provide immediate support and gather details for necessary interventions. “This visit is to sympathize with the affected families and document their losses. Senator Nwoko, in his characteristic spirit of charity, will provide financial assistance to help alleviate their burdens,” he stated.

Dr. Nwoko urged the victims and their families to remain calm, assuring them of the senator’s unwavering commitment to their welfare during this challenging time.

The delegation visited the site of the accident and homes of the victims, including Deaconess Adomgbor Deborah, who was caught in the flames while returning from church; Donatus Udoka, a generator mechanic; and Rashidat, a bureau de change operator from Kebbi State.

Local coordinators of Senator Nwoko’s office, Mr. Stanley Ehiedu and Mr. Alfred Idehen, commended the senator for his consistent dedication to improving the lives of his constituents and Nigerians at large.
