ASABA/Nigeria: Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, on Tuesday performed the groundbreaking ceremony for the Cubana Millennium City in Asaba, describing the multi-billion-naira project as a defining statement of investor confidence in the state’s economy. The Governor, represented by his Deputy, Sir Monday Onyeme, FCA, said the initiative is a “clear signal that Delta State is emerging as one of Nigeria’s most promising investment destinations.”
He said the ambitious development reflects a strong vote of confidence in the state’s stability and economic direction, noting that the Cubana Millennium City would become “a thriving hub of commerce, hospitality, entertainment, and modern living,” strategically positioned to unlock new opportunities along the Benin–Onitsha Highway corridor.
“Today’s groundbreaking is more than the start of a physical project; it is a clear signal that Delta State is emerging as one of Nigeria’s most promising investment destinations,” the Governor said. “The Cubana Millennium City represents confidence—confidence in our economy, in our people, and in the stability and opportunities Delta State offers investors across the world.”
He added that the project would generate significant economic and social impact, boosting SMEs, strengthening local supply chains, and creating quality jobs for young people. Oborevwori reiterated his administration’s commitment to making Delta “the easiest place to invest, to build, and to grow,” citing ongoing efforts to improve infrastructure, enhance security, remove bureaucratic bottlenecks, and support genuine investors.
He praised Dr. Obinna Iyiegbu and the Cubana Group for choosing Delta State for the transformative investment, assuring that the government would remain firmly behind all credible partners. The Governor also commended traditional rulers and community leaders for sustaining the stability investors value, urging youths to prepare for the opportunities the development will open.
Chairman of Oshimili North Local Government Council, Hon. Innocent Esewezie, and his Aniocha North counterpart, Hon. Emma Chinye, described the Cubana Millennium City as another bold milestone in the infrastructure and socio-economic advancement of their localities and the state.
In a goodwill message, the Ugoani of Okpanam, His Royal Majesty Dr. Michael Ogbolu, pledged the community’s commitment to supporting and protecting the project in the collective interest of residents.
Earlier, Chairman of the Cubana Group, Dr. Obinna Iyiegbu, said the development aims to create a fully integrated ecosystem where people can live, work, relax, and thrive. “We are standing on a piece of land that is about to transform into a world-class community, a modern city within a city,” he said.
He thanked Governor Oborevwori for providing an enabling environment, noting that the MORE Agenda has inspired bold private-sector investments. Iyiegbu described the Cubana Millennium City as a representation of “vision, commitment, and possibilities,” designed with smart homes, secure environments, green spaces, entertainment clusters, and commercial zones tailored to the aspirations of young people.
