ASABA/Nigeria: Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, on Friday ordered the immediate rehabilitation of the failed portion of the Ubeji–Egbokodo–Refinery Road in Warri South Local Government Area, as part of efforts to boost economic activity and improve infrastructure in the oil city.

The Governor gave the directive while inaugurating the newly completed multi-million-naira Swiss International Rancho Valerie Hotel in Ubeji, describing the road repair as a critical intervention to enhance access, stimulate business, and complement private sector investments in the area.

Oborevwori said the new hospitality and tourism facility represents a bold testament to Warri’s economic revival, adding that the city is steadily regaining its position as Delta’s commercial and investment hub.

“Warri is rising again, Delta State is progressing steadily. The shadows of yesterday have given way to the bright possibilities of today and the greater promises of tomorrow,” he declared.

He emphasized that the establishment of the hotel reflects the renewed confidence investors now have in Delta State under his administration’s MORE Agenda, which prioritizes infrastructure renewal, enhanced security, and investor-friendly policies.

“This hotel is not just another project; it is a clear statement that Delta State is open for business. It affirms that our state is safe, investor-friendly, and capable of hosting world-class hospitality and tourism ventures,” the Governor said.

While commending the owner, Mr. Mode Akoma, for choosing to invest in his home community, Oborevwori said the hotel’s impact would extend beyond tourism, creating jobs, supporting local enterprises, and strengthening community peace.

“If you had invited me to commission a hotel you built outside Delta State, I would not have attended. But I am proud that you chose to develop your community. This project brings jobs, brings peace, and brings progress,” he noted.

The Governor called on Deltans at home and in the diaspora, as well as other investors, to take advantage of the state’s stable political climate, improved infrastructure, and growing economy to invest in Delta.

“The time to invest in Delta State is now,” Oborevwori said, assuring that his administration remains committed to creating the enabling environment for businesses to thrive.

Earlier, the General Manager of the hotel, Mr. Todowede Opeyemi, said the facility was designed to meet international standards in hospitality and would help unlock Delta’s tourism potential.

“Every guest who visits us deserves more than just a stay; they deserve an unforgettable experience, one that reflects our culture, our hospitality, and our warmth as a people,” Opeyemi said.

The Governor’s directive on the road rehabilitation and his call for increased investment signal the administration’s drive to position Warri as a key destination for business, tourism, and sustainable development in Delta State.
