Ochor Hails INMC, Calls for Responsible Social Media Practice.

Hon Ochor Chris OchorAsaba: Hon Ochor Chris Ochor, the Executive Director, Social Services Development, on the board of the Delta State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission, DESOPADEC, had congratulated the members of the Indigenous Newspaper Magazine Correspondents Chapel, (INMC) for the establishment and commissioning of their office, recently in Asaba, Delta state

Hon Ochor, who was represented at the occasion by Chief Monday Rouna Itoghor, the Special Assistant Technical said with the commissioning of the office, the chapel has now become real to the public, as it will be a place of contact for those that will want their services.

According him, the physical office will go a long way to build confidence especially as many, who are not journalist, has found openings, using the practice of journalism to abuse or scandalise persons whom they don’t like.

He thanked the chapel for getting an office with identifiable membership as opposed to the many in the business whose identities are not known

Speaking further, he called for proper record of members, so that their activities can be checked, especially with the rise in use of the Social Media as a means of information dissemination.

He said the use of the social media had gone out of the intending usage, as it is now causing more harm than good.

The Executive Director, called on those in the practice of social media to be responsible as information they give to the public could be destructive.
