Ogidi-Gbegbaje, Others Underscore Importance Of Giving Back To One’s Alma Mater

ASABA/Nigeria: The need for every well-meaning individual in society to contribute their quotas towards the growth and development of their Alma Mater, especially the higher institutions where they acquired useful knowledge by giving back to their schools.

The Permanent Secretary, Directorate of Government House and Protocol, Mr Edwin Ogidi-Gbegbaje made the call in his residence in Asaba when he hosted the Asaba Branch of Delta State University Abraka, (DELSU) Alumni Association.

Mr Ogidi-Gbegbaje, who is the grand patron of the Asaba Branch of the Association, said that Delta State University had continued to produce quality human resources that were giving good accounts of themselves in their various careers.

He lauded the State Governor, Senator Dr Ifeanyi Okowa’s Administration for the establishment of three Universities in the state, adding that the initiative had made it much easier for admission seekers to gain admission into any of the four state-owned Universities in the state.

The PS said that the thanksgiving mass which was attended by members of the association was to appreciate God for His numerous blessings and to seek for more breakthroughs in life.

Mr. Ogidi-Gbegbaje, who urged civil servants as well as all alumni of the institution to collect their PVCs and ensure that they voted for credible candidates, maintained that 2023 was a defining moment for the nation.

Earlier in their separate remarks, the National President of DELSU Alumni Association, Mr Igbuwe Joseph Omamuzuoh, the Chairman of the Asaba Branch, Com. Ayiba Samson,  Mr. Dele Ugochukwu  and   Mr. Christopher Ugala Comr. Taye Kenny as well as Ginae Ubido called on other graduands of the institution to identify with the alumni association.

They said that the alumni issue was giving back to the school what the school had given to individuals just as the National President hinted that under his administration 22 students out of 26 names submitted to Delta State University, Abraka were offered admission.

Speaking further, they expressed their commitment towards the growth of the association, adding that the outstanding performances of DELSU graduates in their various places of work were a reflection of what the school had impacted on them.

They described Mr. Ogidi-Gbegbaje as a great asset to humanity and the Alumni Association in particular, adding that his supportive role in driving the association was quite commendable.
