The Delta state Governor, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa has called on Christians in the state to use their positions to work for the development of Delta.
The Governor who was speaking through his Executive Assistant on Religious Matters, Bishop Greatman Nmalagu, on 16 August, 2015, at Agbor, during the thanksgiving ceremony of the Executive Secretary to the Delta State Christian Pilgrim Welfare Board, Rev. Prof. Oke Akokotu, at God’s Own Revolutionary Church, said no government comes into play unless God ordered it, and so Christians are to be agent of development in everything they do, either in private or public life.
Making reference to the Book of Matt 5:16, the governor stated that since God has caused it for some Christians to be in authority, then they should see it as a call to serve, and therefore all Christians who are in authority should let their light shine before men, that Deltans may see their good works and will glorify God who is in Heaven.
Speaking further, the Governor reminded Christians that the church stand for God, and therefore they should use their positions to show the light of God in them, which can be achieved when Christians in government and in general life do the right things by ensuring that they work to promote peaceful co-existence in the state.
In the word of the governor, “Whatever will bring peace, whatever is lawful, whatever is worthy of doing that will bring unity, love, peace, and will key into the SMART agenda of the government, and lead to prosperity for all Deltans, it should be done”.
While congratulating the Executive Secretary to the Delta State Christian Pilgrim welfare Board, he reminded the people that his government is that of God, and all Christians in his government and in the state should hold onto such that is righteous, holy, as he expects Prof. Akokotu to use his position to encourage Christians to work for the development of the state.
