Okowa, Emerhor Condoles With Ex-Senators Family

ASABA/Nigeria: Delta State Governor, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa, and the leader of the Leader of Delta Mainstream All Progressive Congress, APC had expresses sadness over the death of renowned Professor of Pharmacology and Toxicology, late Sen. Adegor Eferakeya who passed on Tuesday, at 78 years.

In his part, while commiserating with the people of Delta Central Senatorial District, the Urhobo nation, Deltans, as well as political associates and friends of the deceased, said the late Senator, who represented Delta Central Senatorial District in the 6th Senate, was a renowned medical practitioner in Amukpe-Sapele where he lived a life of service to God and the nation.

In a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Charles Aniagwu, in Asaba on Tuesday, the Governor commended the late Senator’s disposition to serve the people and the nation whenever he was called upon, while always promoting democratic values and culture among his people.

While in the Senate, Prof. Eferakeya led the Senate through a debate on a bill seeking to establish a national DNA data bank to help in the investigation of crime and identification of unknown corpses and also objected to the October 4th 2009 deadline by the Federal government for ending the amnesty it had granted to militants in the Niger Delta, saying termination of the amnesty was premature.

Governor Okowa urged the children, friends and political associates of the late elder statesman to keep alive his commitment to the unity, peace and stability of not only Delta State, but also the entire country.

The Governor prays Almighty God to comfort the family and all those who mourn the septuagenarian and grant his soul eternal rest.

Meanwhile, the leader of Mainstream Delta State All Progressives Congress (APC), Olorogun O’tega Emerhor has expressed deep sadness over the death of the former senator representing Delta Central Senatorial District, Sen. Adegor Eferakeya.

Eferakeya, a renowned Professor of Pharmacology and Toxicology, died on Monday at 78 years.
In a statement on Thursday, Emerhor said the death of Prof. Eferakeya was a big blow to the Urhobo Nation considering his contributions to the development of his native Okpe Kingdom and Urhobo land that he represented at the apex level of lawmaking.
While commiserating with the Eferakeya family and the Urhobo Progress Congress (UPU), the APC leader stressed that the late senator’s death has created a big vacuum that will be difficult to fill.
Emerhor also praised the late professor for his contribution to the formation and growth of APC in Delta State before retiring from active politics in 2017.
Emerhor prayed Almighty God to comfort the family and Urhobo Nation and as well grant the soul of the deceased eternal rest.
