Oyo State Government Hosts Vital Sensitization Summit for Motorcycle and Tricycle Operators

IBADAN/Nigeria: In an effort to bolster registration compliance and enhance safety measures, the Oyo State Government orchestrated a pivotal one-day sensitization session aimed at commercial tricycle and motorcycle operators within the region.

Led by the Commissioner for Information and Civic Orientation, Prince Dotun Oyelade, the opening of this crucial exercise in Ibadan emphasized the imperative nature of properly registering motorcycles and tricycles. The meeting drew leaders representing motorcycle and tricycle riders from diverse zones across the state, including prominent bodies like Park Management System (PMS), Motorcycle Transport Union of Nigeria (MTUN), and Amalgamated Commercial Tricycle and Motorcycle Owners, Repairs and Riders Association of Nigeria (ACOMORAN).

“The documentation of riders is pivotal in ensuring enhanced security within the state,” stated Commissioner Oyelade, citing recent deliberations within the state security council that highlighted the necessity of such measures.

Moreover, the Commissioner advocated for a sustained collaboration between the riders and the state government, emphasizing a symbiotic relationship that could bolster both the security and economic landscape of the state.

Highlighting the significance of the documentation exercise, Mrs. Bukola Omosanya, the consultant overseeing the registration process, stressed its role in promoting public safety while reinstating integrity among registered motorcycle riders in Oyo State.

Voicing their support, key stakeholders within the transportation sector urged the government to maintain an enabling environment conducive for their businesses to thrive.

The pivotal gathering, which transpired at the film theatre of the Oyo State Ministry of Information and Civic Orientation at the Agodi Secretariat in Ibadan, saw the presence of high-ranking officials including the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Information and Civic Orientation, Dr. Taiwo Ladipo, and Directors from the Ministries of Information, Public Works, and Transport.

The meeting marked a proactive step by the state government to ensure compliance, safety, and collaboration among stakeholders within the transportation sector for a more secure and prosperous Oyo State.
