ASABA/Nigeria: The National Association of Delta State Students (NADESSTU WORLDWIDE), in collaboration with the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), has conferred a Merit Award on Governor Sheriff Oborevwori in recognition of his outstanding contributions to the educational sector.
The award was presented on Tuesday during a courtesy visit to the Governor at Government House, Asaba.
Speaking at the event, NADESSTU President, Comrade Monday Wiska, praised Governor Oborevwori’s commitment to students’ welfare, highlighting his approval of bursary payments for 30,116 students in 2023 and 32,028 students in 2024. He also commended the Governor’s strides in expanding access to quality education, improving school infrastructure, and driving reforms that enhance students’ development.
Governor Oborevwori, in his response, expressed gratitude for the honour and reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to advancing education in Delta State. He outlined various initiatives aimed at providing a better learning environment and increasing educational opportunities for students.
A major highlight of the visit was the Governor’s donation of a bus to NADESSTU, alongside the formal presentation of the NADESSTU Merit Award, which recognized him as a Plenipotentiary Gold Icon of Educational Development in Delta State.
