Ukah Enjoins MDAS to Transact Email Correspondence Through Official Addresses … Tasks Pros on Efficient Use of New Media

ASABA/Nigeria: The Commissioner for Information, Mr. Patrick Ukah has enjoined Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) to transact all official information dissemination of government activities through the official government email created for the MDAS as directed by the Secretary to the State Government.

Mr Patrick Ukah gave the advice during the meeting he held with Public Relations Officers (PROs) in the MDAs in Asaba on the State website, had in attendance the Executive Assistance to the Governor in charge of the Directorate of Orientation, Barr Eugene Uzum and the Functioning Permanent Secretary in the Ministry, Mr Paul Osahor.

The Commissioner Stated that it was an aberration to transact official government information with a personal email, saying that the State Website managed by the Directorate of Orientation, had created an email for all the MDAs in the State for the purpose of transacting government information.

He explained that it was mandatory for all the MDAs to be on the website, saying that they should be able to put all Ministry’s, Departments’ and Agencies’ information on the web, even as he urged all the MDAs who were yet to put their information on the web to hook up.

Mr Ukah while addressing the PROs on the need to ensure that a domain was created for their MDAs, stated that it was only through the web that the world would get to know the State Government activities, policies and programmes through the activities of the MDAs.

He also advised the PROs to have their office social handle such as twitter, Instagram, facebook etc – where the outside world could easily get information about the MDAs, disclosing, “MDAs must open their website and link to the State Website”, saying any defaulter would hold his or herself responsible.
