OBIARUKU/Nigeria: The Acting Chairman, Ukwuani Local Government Council, Dr. F. O Atube has assured the staff that the system will not be shortchanged by his administration in spite of the financial constraints besieging councils in the state.
Dr. Atube who is also the Head of Personnel Management (HPM) of the council gave this assurance while addressing the staff; he thanked the workers for their cooperation with the Clock in and Clock out adopted by the state government to check the lackadaisical attitude of some council staff.
He encouraged the workers to always come to work on time; clock in appropriately; stay on their duty posts and clock out appropriately at the end of the day. “Come to work and stay on your duty posts, and ensure that you clock in and out appropriately because a committee have been set up to weed out those who have not been clocking in and out the right way,” he stated.
The HPM conveyed the praise of the Delta State Governor, His Excellency, Sen. (Dr.) Ifeanyi Okowa to the staff for their cooperation with the clock in and clock out policy; the state government noted that the exercise was instituted to clean up the system and to ensure that only those who come to work are remunerated.
Dr. Atube disclosed that it was because the system failed to manage the work force hence the state government’s intervention with the clock in and clock out. He added that by the end of April 2018 that the InfoSec Database will be handed over to the Local Government Service Commission to manage.
He therefore called on the staff to remain committed to the job, be effective and productive adding that plans are in top gear to pay up all arrears owed council workers in the state as promised by the state government.
