UMUKWATA/Nigeria: Umukwata community in Ukwuani Local Government Area of Delta State has erupted in joy as long-awaited renovation works begin at Umukwata Secondary School, bringing renewed hope to students, teachers, and residents after years of neglect.
The school, which had fallen into severe disrepair, is now receiving a major facelift following approval from Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori. Fresh images from the site show ongoing repairs that have already boosted morale across the community.
Deputy Youth President of the community, Comrade Wilson Anioba, described the intervention as a timely and transformative gesture, noting that the governor’s approval came when the community had almost lost hope in the future of the school.
He commended Governor Oborevwori’s commitment to improving educational infrastructure under the M.O.R.E Agenda, adding that the promise of “renewed hope” is now evident in Umukwata.
“Our working and able Governor has once again demonstrated his passion for grassroots development. The joy of the students, staff, and the entire community knows no bounds,” Anioba said. “Your M.O.R.E Agenda is being felt all over the state. We thank you immensely, and God bless you.”
The community also expressed deep appreciation to the Ward 4 leader, Chief Isaac Onyesom, popularly known as Omenosa, for playing a key role in facilitating the renovation and for his consistent support for the welfare of Umukwata.
Anioba lauded him for “being there for us, doing the Godly work you are known for, and always having the community at heart,” stressing that the people remain grateful for his tireless contributions.
With renovation work progressing steadily, residents believe the upgraded school will improve learning conditions, uplift students’ confidence, and restore pride in the community’s educational development.
