The Delta 2014 Local Government election in Ukwuani LGA is showing sign of an organic development as recently conducted primary selection of the ruling party, the Peoples Democratic Party, (PDP) has had its first defector openly in the person of Chief Chris Ijibike, one of the twelve PDP members who picked nomination form for as high as N2 million, who has now to run as the Chairmanship candidate of the All Progressive for Grand Alliance (APGA).
Chief Ijibike on Tuesday, September 02, 2014 hosted members of the Ijibike “Vanguard” and a pressure group, the Niger Delta Positive Forum for Good Governance (NDPFG), said he had to move out from the PDP after the botched ambition to run under the umbrella of the PDP, to seek a way to salvage the Ukwuani people who according to him “had always been cheated by those elected to govern them”.
According to him, the decision though was had; the pressure to help save Ukwuani by him was irresistible.
At the occasion which he was officially giving a certificate by the executive of NDPFG, the president, Tony Ibeni demanding that he runs, the president of the group said that the group saw in IJibike as the only one among the lots to remove Ukwuani people from lack of proper road networks, lack of attention of the youths, lack of loans to farms and many more.
