Warri Residents Bemoan Non-Completion Of Drainage Projects In Warri

WARRI/Nigeria: Commuters and College of Education Students have complained about the drainage project being carried out at Edjeba Junction, off Airport Road, Warri.

The project which began about a month ago led to the blocking of the Edjeba Juction for over a week after which it was opened even though work was still in progress.

Mr. Monday Toritse, a staff of the college, who spoke with pressmen, stated that it looked like the work on the drainage was on hold probably because of the rains.

He went further to state that if the drainage was left uncomplicated, the project which was meant for good, would end up destroying the road due to erosion from the open edge of the roads.

A commercial tricycle operator, who pleaded anonymity, stated that the machineries for the project were still on site but given that it was raining season, waiting for the rains to stop before completion of the project may prove futile.

Some students have complained of how messy the road had become since the rains began, saying that it was making it difficult to walk through without messing up one’s shoes.

The students, together with commuters, called on the Delta State Government and other authorities responsible for the project to hasten the activities that would lead to the completion to the project.
