Mrs Nkechi Chukwurah, Executive Chairman Ndokwa East LGA
The crises between the Executive Arm of Ndokwa East, led by the Chairman Mrs Nkechi Chukwurah and the Legislative Arm of the council is getting worse by the day, as members of the legislative Arm is not leaving any stone unturned to see that the Chairman, who they has accused of incompetence is removed as the Chief Executive officer of the Local Government Council.
To further make their voices heard in the state and their demands met, the members of the Legislative arm on Wednesday, August, 12 2015 sponsored a protest to the state House of Assembly by some youths from the LGA to ensure that Mrs Chukwurah is removed.
Speaking to Ndokwa Reporters on the crises rocking the LGA Administration, Hon. Benson Chukwuma, Chairman House Committee on Works, accused the Chairman of running a one man government, as she has refused to accept the person, that was recommended to her by the State House of Assembly to be appointed Secretary to the Local Government, and running a government without budget for nine months.
According to the member of the Legislative Arm, the offence of the councillors is demanding for accountability on “income and expenditure of the Local Government since she took over as the Executive Chairman”.
Speaking further, Hon. Chukwuma also blamed the leaders of Ndokwa East for allowing the situation to degenerate to an uncontrollable level for the past nine months as they refused to act to the cries of the people of Ndokwa East, and to restore confidence in the LGA, the chairman must go, as she is not only running an unproductive government, “she had also turned the security services against the councillors by sealing off the Legislative House”. He said.
Concluding Hon. Chukwuma said “We don’t want her again, she must have to go. She had been running the government where she had been the Chairman, Secretary, and sole member of the tender board as she had being awarding contracts without due process, consultation or a contract awarding committee”.
At the time of going to the press, all attempts made to reach the Chairman was not successful as she refused to answer her phone or reply the sms sent to her.
Meanwhile, the Delta State House of Assembly has officially invited the members of the Legislative Arm to appear before the Honourable House on Tuesday, 18 August, 2015.
