Women Enjoined to Build Interest on Leadership, as Leaders are Called to Imbibe ICT

WARRI/Nigeria: Women has been enjoined to develop themselves by building  interest in current affairs nationally and internationally, so as to be able to make constructive argument and impute when important issues are raised.
Dr. Ejiro Otive-Igbuzor made this remark while lecturing the students of Centre LSD Leadership School in Partnership with Value Rebirth and Empowerment Initiative, Effurun-Warri study centre, on “Gender Perspectives to Leadership Development”, at PTI Conference Centre Effurun, Delta State.
She stated that gender stereotype which are socially constructed beliefs about men and women through sayings, proverbs, songs, religion, culture, customs, media, drama and even education has tremendously hinder women in our society from exploring their God given potentials, adding that due to this beliefs, most women has placed limitation on themselves towards achieving certain goals and holding certain position in society.
Dr. Ejiro Igbuzor further stressed the need for gender equity which she said is the process of been fair to women and men according to their respective need, even as she maintained that to ensure fairness, measures must often be put in place to compensate for the historical and social disadvantages that prevent women and men from operating on a level playing field, saying that irrespective of gender stereotype, a woman that wants to be a leader must be interested in things around her and always be open to learn and develop herself in every capacity.
Also speaking in a different lecture on “Leadership and ICT” to the students, Mr. Stephen Osawaru, an ICT expert emphasises the importance of ICT to leadership.
He stated that leadership and ICT is the ability to produce solution to problems, adding that social media changes everything and as such every leader must of necessity embrace ICT to make life meaningful.
Mr. Osawaru said investing in core areas of ICT, investing in people and don’t only rely on others to make things work are most of the essential steps to being a digital leader, even as he maintained that globalisation, job creation, fast work process etc are the major benefits of ICT, and that every leader that desire progress must think globally by maximising the benefit of ICT for a better leadership.
