Widows and the aged in Ukwuani local government area of the state celebrated the just concluded 2014 yuletide with joy and relative abundance.
The widows and the aged who were carefully selected across the wards in the council area benefitted from the benevolence and generosity of Her Excellency, Deaconness Nere Roli Uduaghan as they received rice, chicken and cash gift.
Distributing the gift items across the 10 wards, Hon (Barr) Mrs Ndudi Benedicta Osakunih Izuegbu conveyed the goodwill message of the Delta State first lady to the widows that they should celebrate hope and faith in Jesus christ; and continue to trust God to always take care of their welfare and that of their children.
The chairman led the widows and the aged in prayers for the local government, the state and for peace and security of lives and property in the country. Special prayers were also said for the Governor, Dr Emmanuel Eweta Uduaghan and his family.
In their separate responses, the recipients of the items thanked the wife of the governor for the gesture which she has sustained for years now; they also prayed for her and her family.
Also, the widows appreciated Hon (Barr) Ndudi for bringing the gift items to their doorsteps. In unison, they prayed God to bless her and grant her wisdom to triumph in Ukwuani local government, even in areas/places where men failed.
Meanwhile, at the Cathedral Church of Christ, Obiaruku one of the venues for the distribution, the Rev’d Jude admonished the widows and the aged to take God serious and always remember that being a widow does not in any way mean the end of rhe world. Trust God because when God remembers you He will cause the government and people to remember you he said.
