Deputy Governor Sir Monday Onyeme Extends Condolences to Late PDP Chieftain’s Family

OGUME/Nigeria: In a poignant gesture of solidarity, Deputy Governor of Delta State, Sir Monday Onyeme, visited the family of the late People’s Democratic Party (PDP) Chieftain, Major Babs Agali (rtd), on Saturday. The solemn occasion took place at the deceased’s residence in Ogume, Ndokwa West Local Government Area.

Accompanied by notable figures including Engr. Dan Ossai, Secretary of the PDP in the state, and Hon. Michael Anoka, Commissioner for Urban Renewal, Sir Onyeme was warmly received by Chief Paul Agali, the elder brother of the departed.

Expressing his condolences, the Deputy Governor conveyed the deep impact of Major Agali’s loss, emphasizing his loyalty and sincerity within the PDP and the state at large.

“Major was a very sincere person, a loyal party man who never wavered in his belief. He was the most reliable human being I have come across in my life. His death came as a big surprise to us. We are here to let you know that we have heard about his passage. Update us on the plan for his rites of passage, and be rest assured of our support. Please, take solace in the fact that he lived a good life, and may God grant you all the fortitude to bear the loss, amen,” Sir Onyeme said, offering words of comfort.

The Deputy Governor also took a moment to sign the condolence register, leaving a heartfelt message: “Our father, our leader, an upright gentleman, a loyal and faithful party man, may your gentle soul rest in perfect peace, amen.”

Chief Rupert Ossai, responding on behalf of the grieving family, expressed gratitude for the Deputy Governor’s support during their trying time. He assured Sir Onyeme that the family would provide information about the burial plan once a decision was reached.

Major Babs Agali, a revered community leader and PDP chieftain, passed away on Sunday, January 28, 2024, at the age of 70, following a brief illness.

In a related event, Deputy Governor Sir Monday Onyeme, FCA, also attended the burial ceremony of Mr. Godwin Odiwe, the elder brother of one of his convoy drivers, Mr. Elvis Odiwe, at Amorji, Onicha-Ukwuani in Ndokwa West Local Government Area of Delta State.
