ASABA/Nigeria: The Leadership of Ndi-Igbo United Forum (NIUF) led by its President, Dr. Godson Ezenagu had applauded President Mohammed Buhari for the 10B Naira Intervention Fund released for the rehabilitation of Akanu Bian Airport, Enugu State.
Dr.Ezenagu made this known to our reporter in a telephone while commending the National Executive Council of the group for achieving greater feats by opening a new National Secretariat in Enugu State.
He frowned at the proposed meeting of the South- East Governor’s Forum Scheduled to take place at the Ecumenical Centre Ebonyi State, while stating that the venue of Nzuko Umumna should been decided by the president of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Chief Nnia Nwodo.
“Ndi-Igbo United Forum has opened its national secretariat in Enugu the southeast region of Nigeria.The secretariat was officially opened for administrative purposes, and this will enhance unification and quality leadership of Ndi-igbo. He stated.
The group also appreciated the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria for the 10B Naira Intervention Fund for the rehabilitation of Akanu Bian International Airport, Enugu State, and the Southeast Governors and other Igbo stakeholders on the visit to the Presidency which facilitated the release of 10 billion naira for the airport.
Dr. Godson also calls on federal government to do something urgently to ameliorate the sufferings of the people as a result of the deplorable conditions of southeast roads.
The Leadership further appealed to the federal to look into appointments of credible Igbos into political positions of authority to ensure balance and reflects the federal character commission mandate as enshrined in the constitution of Nigeria.
In his words: “Ndi-Igbo United Forum Worldwide call on Ndi-Igbo especially Igbo Leaders to close ranks and speak with one unequivocal voice by working in unity towards achieving unlimited progress for the region in particular and Nigeria at large”.
“Ndi-Igbo United Forum frowned at the proposed meeting called by Nzuko Umunna. We believe that if the organizers meant well for Igbos, the Group being coordinated by our brother, the Ebonyi State Governor, Engr Dave Umahi should have scheduled the retreat for Enugu State as the capital of the Southeast region”.Regrettably, they involved an independent body like Southeast Governors Forum which shouldn’t be.
“If for any reason such a meeting which they put for 22nd and 23rd of November, 2019 at Ecumenical Centre Abakiliki Ebonyi State should hold, it should be at the beehive of the apex Sociocultural organisation, Ohaneze Ndigbo. We therefore ask for the cancellation and boycott of the said retreat”
“The Forum finally thanked the government of President Buhari for the continuous work at the second Niger bridge which when completed will ease traffic at the bridge which is a gateway to southeast and usher in a new lease of life”.
“We want to remind us that Ndi-Igbo United Forum Worldwide is a sociopolitical organization committed to integrating all Igbos globally for peace, advancements and towards having our fair shares at all times in the Nigeria project in a non violent and non confrontational manner”.
