120 Students Receive Free School Bags, Educational Materials From AYND in Delta

ASABA/Nigeria: Not less than 120 less privileged indigent students of secondary and primary schools in Onicha-Ugbo, Aniocha North Local Government Area, were beneficiaries of a ‘Back To School Programme’ organised by Anioma Youth Network For Development (AYND), yesterday.

The programme, a maiden edition, themed ‘Let’s Heal The World Through Giving’, left the beneficiaries smiling home with school bags containing educational items like mathematical sets, notebooks, pens, pencils and other writing materials.

Declaring the programme open, Prince Ned Nwoko who was represented by Mr. Chike Okolo laid emphasis on the role of education in the growth and development of society adding that with education, society could actually eradicate poverty, provide boundless opportunities and reducing inequality.

Nwoko who assured the people of his unrelenting resolve to assisting those in need, charged society elite to make conscious effort to support education, particularly for the less privileged.

Delta State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Ibrahim Zanna, represented by DSP Andrew Aniamaka, PPRO charged the pupils and students to give premium attention to their studies if they must achieve their dreams of being notable society persons.

Earlier, AYND National President and programme initiator, Mr Odita Sunday, noted that the project was strategic in view of the fact that primary and secondary schools were on the brink of resuming the 2017/ 2018 academic session.

Odita commended all donors to the project and stressed the need for parents and guardians to ensure the packages are used by the recipients and not sold off or usurped.

Others who spoke including, the Obi of Onicha-Ugbo, HRH Agbogidi Victor Chukwumalieze I, retired Deputy Comptroller General, Nigeria Immigration Service, Dr Brasca Ifeadi, former Director, Department of States Services (DSS), Barr. Mike Ejiofor, Chairman, Delta State House of Assembly Service Commission, Barr. Josphine Kachikwu, and member representing Aniocha North in Delta State House of Assembly, Hon. Emeka Nwaobi commended the initiator, Mr Odita Sunday and promised to support the programme in order to engender education to the children.

High point of the event was when the Ihama of Onicha-Ugbo, Chief Madu Nwayobuije and Barr Mike Ejiofor donated N500, 000 and N100, 000 reapectively to the NGO in support of education for children.
