ASABA/Nigeria: The Delta State monthly Environmental Sanitation Exercise for the month of August will hold on Saturday August 25, 2018, between the hours of 7.00 am and 10.00 am.
A statement signed by the Director of Information, Mr Paul Osahor stated that during the period of the exercise there would be restrictions on the movement of persons and vehicles except those engaged in essential duties and inter State journeys.
The statement further stated that the State Commissioner for Environment, Barr John Nani and staff of the Ministry and other relevant government agencies would monitor the exercise, while officials of the State Waste Management Board and Local Government Councils were to evacuate the resultant refuse to the approved government dump sites.
It stressed that Local Government Council Chairmen in the State were to ensure that the exercise was observed in their Local Government Areas and that defaulters would be sanctioned by an appropriate mobile sanitation court which would be on standby during the exercise.
Deltans and residents in the State were advised to use the period of the exercise to keep their surroundings and drainages clean.
