ASABA/Nigeria: A renowned technocrat, Mr. Richard Kimeku has emerged the consensus governorship candidate of the Democratic Peoples Party, DPP in Delta States, with a pledged to deliver masses-oriented governance, if elected the governor in the 2019 general elections.
The exercise which was held in Asaba, was supervised by the national official of the party and officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission.
Declaring Kimeku, as the DPP consensus candidate, Mr. Okpegwa Ejiroghene Abel, the state Chairman of the DPP, said the candidate had fulfilled all conditions to be the flag bearer of DPP, saying; “We only have one person that satisfied the conditions, filled the expression of interest form and paid for the nomination.”
According to him; “Having fulfilled all the requirements, i introduce to you the sole governorship aspirant that we have in DPP in Delta state, Mr. Richard Kimeku, who will take over the Delta state government house, Asaba in 2019. The technocrat hailed from Ika South LGA.”
“By the power conferred on me, i am privileged and honoured to announce to you this day of 4th October, 2018, that Mr. Richard Kimeku has been adopted as DPP Delta candidate for 2019 governorship election. The candidate possesses quality, passion, vision and intellectual capacity to offer Deltans good governance they deserved.”
Earlier, according to the DPP constitutional provision, the Chairman requested a delegate to move the motion for the adoption of the aspirant as the consensus candidate of the party, while another seconded it.”
Okpegwa advised the party faithful to continue to persuade Deltans to join the DPP for the development of the state and nation at large, stressing that DPP door is still open for aspirants who wants to actualise the party’s vision for the people.
Addressing party faithful after his adoption, Mr. Kimeku said DPP will wrestle power from the PDP in Delta state come 2019 so as to provide a structure that can work for the good of the people, adding that “DPP will change the face of politics in Delta State, it will be a party in government that will touch the lives of people in grassroots, a party that will run a unity and open door policy. We will demonstrate to the people a government that works.”
The candidate, who noted that Delta State deserve more than what they were getting under the PDP led government in the state, said the era of new dawn has come even as he urged Deltans to cast their votes for him in the 2019 general elections.
“My adoption today as the governorship candidate of the DPP marks a new dawn in Delta state politics. I assured you, my blue print for the development of the state is all embracing, we will focuse on revamping the agricultural, educational sectors. Youths and women empowerment and as well as massive infrastructural upgrade in the state. I commend my support groups Delta movement for liberation and I Win with Richard 2019 for their support.”
He advised Nigerians to prepare to use their Permanent Voters Cards PVC, to vote in to power credible individuals irrespective of party inclination, so as to enjoy what it’s called ‘true democratic dividends.
